Now we have had the first Management group meeting for Folkuniversitet’s upcoming education in ”Seafood” in various forms. Great commitment from a broad and competent management team with high expectations for an in-demand education.
It is a Vocational College education where you have the opportunity to study remotely with regular physical ”Industry meetings” around Sweden.

Labor market
The blue food industry is facing a shift with a focus on domestic production, a protein shift where blue food takes a more prominent role and where consumer demand for sustainably produced food increases. The companies behind this training represent a breadth of the industry, from established companies in fishing or processing, to innovative, newer companies focusing on the cultivation of fish, shellfish or algae and from different parts of the country. The established companies testify to the need to change production and processes as well as the need for trained labor. The newer and innovative companies foresee a large scale-up of production based on the protein shift.

The timing is right
I personally see a clearly increasing degree of realization of what has been talked about and planned for a long time. Small innovative companies scale up their volumes and collaborations across borders in the food chain increase the demand for sustainable and innovative production models. It is also now realistic to expect the establishment of large-scale land-based production – several potent projects are underway around Sweden. This will create a great demand for skilled labor.
